From outdoor conditions to a useful plan.
Home Advisor combines public environmental information with your household preferences, then explains what to do, when to do it, and which conditions shaped the recommendation.
A decision, not another wall of numbers.
The touchscreen design puts the recommendation first, with the supporting evidence close at hand.
Set up locally
On first setup, join the temporary setup network from a normal browser and connect the appliance to the household’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. There is no required phone app or developer account.
Tell it what matters
Choose a five-digit U.S. ZIP code, time and units, pollen preferences, and optional household rate and comfort assumptions. Routine settings are then available on the touchscreen.
Check the evidence
The device validates source identity, age, and completeness before using forecast data. Missing pollen is shown as unavailable, not as a low reading; the default AQI outlook is modeled.
Apply health-first rules
Air quality, selected pollen sensitivities, rain, wind, moisture, and your configured limits can block a tempting natural-cooling window before any estimated energy benefit is considered.
Show the action and reason
The display can recommend opening windows now, waiting for a suitable time, keeping them closed, or withholding a recommendation when the evidence is not reliable enough. Timing, decisive factors, and freshness are visible.
Saved data has an expiration date.
The design can use recent validated data during a temporary outage. A Last saved view marks past conditions and pauses live advice; travel-and-reconnect behavior still needs physical verification. If the clock or evidence is uncertain, timed guidance pauses.
Settings, decision logic, display, and alerts run locally. Fresh weather, air-quality, UV, and pollen forecasts still require Internet access to their providers.
What the advice can and cannot know
Home Advisor uses outdoor forecasts and the assumptions entered by the household. It does not measure indoor temperature, humidity, air quality, or mold; it does not know whether a window is open or control a thermostat. A savings figure is an estimate based on entered rates and assumptions, not measured or guaranteed savings.
