Home Advisor / Privacy & data

Local decisions. Clearly named data sources.

The appliance processes household settings and recommendations locally. Fresh forecasts still come from public Internet services. The ZeroHour website has its own, separate privacy practices.

Two separate boundaries

The device is not the website.

On the appliance

Wi-Fi credentials, provider keys, household preferences, settings, accepted cached data, recommendations, and visual alert state are stored and processed locally. The product does not require a developer account or developer-operated cloud to run its decision engine and display.

On this website

The website is a separately hosted service. Its contact form receives the details you choose to submit, and the hosting provider may process technical request logs. The browser demo uses fixed example data and does not connect to a Home Advisor device.

Where fresh environmental information comes from

Home Advisor requests weather and UV forecasts from Open-Meteo. Its default U.S. air-quality outlook is modeled AQI from Open-Meteo/CAMS, not an official monitor reading. Daily pollen forecasts for supported types come from Google Pollen when the household configures a valid user-supplied key. Entered electricity rates and comfort assumptions come from the household, not a utility meter or indoor sensor.

Those selected providers receive the approximate location and request information needed to return data. A provider key is sent to its own provider when authenticating a request; Wi-Fi credentials are used to join the household network. Local-first does not mean never using the Internet.

Coverage, freshness, and uncertainty

Pollen information is daily and has a shorter horizon than the seven-day planner. Coverage may be exact, category-level, or unavailable; missing information is not treated as zero. Saved data can remain useful during temporary outages, but expired or unsafe inputs suppress dependent guidance. Home Advisor labels source age and limitations so a recommendation can be understood in context.

The product does not ask for a name, medical record, diagnosis, allergy-test report, or street address as part of its ordinary environmental guidance. It does not measure indoor air quality, humidity, or mold and is not a medical device.

Website privacy notice

Using the ZeroHour contact form is separate from configuring the appliance. Read the website privacy policy for the form, hosting logs, and retention. Do not put Wi-Fi passwords, API keys, setup codes, private IP addresses, or unreviewed support files into a general website inquiry.
